Everton Committed to Grealish Amid Injury Recovery

David Moyes has confirmed Everton’s commitment to Jack Grealish, stating the club “will continue doing our best” for him as he recovers from a broken bone in his foot.

Grealish has been sidelined since mid-January.

Grealish’s Injury Treatment at Everton

Grealish is unusually continuing his treatment with the Toffees rather than returning to parent club Manchester City.

Moyes acknowledged the deviation from standard procedure, adding: “Normally a player would go back to his parent club and be looked after from there, but we will continue doing our best for Jack.

“He is incredibly well liked inside and outside the building but ultimately he is not our player, he is Man City’s player. We’ve had him on loan for a year and I have to say we’ve enjoyed having him.”

Future Plans to be Assessed

The 30-year-old has one year remaining on his contract, with Moyes indicating that future plans would be assessed in the summer.

“We’ve got a few plans in place. Finances will obviously play a big part in it so we will need to navigate round the best we can,” Moyes said.

“Obviously we like Jack a lot. We’ve looked after Jack all the time since his injury. It’s looking in good order now, the surgeon speaks very well about it and thinks it’s healing greatly.”

Grealish’s Season and England Hopes

Grealish started the season strongly at Hill Dickinson Stadium, swiftly winning the fans over, but his campaign was brought to a premature end when he got injured in January.

The injury ended his hopes of making Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, which was announced on Friday morning.

Tuchel named Anthony Gordon and Marcus Rashford as his left wingers, with Eberechi Eze also providing cover in this position.

Grealish’s Time at Man City

Grealish previously spent four years at City after signing for the club for £100 million from Aston Villa in 2021.

The English winger played a key role in City’s 2022-23 campaign when Pep Guardiola’s men won a historic treble.

However, he struggled to find consistent form, leading to him being loaned out to Everton last summer.

Moyes revealed that the club is “very close” to finalising a contract extension for left-back Vitalii Mykolenko.
