Elgin City Manager Allan Hale Suspended Amid Investigation

Elgin City have suspended their first-team manager, Allan Hale. The suspension is with immediate effect, pending an ongoing investigation.

The Scottish League 2 club announced the suspension in a website statement. The club added that they “will make no further comment until the investigation has concluded”.

Hale’s Tenure at Elgin City

Allan Hale has been in charge of Elgin City since December 2023.

Allan was appointed along with his assistant Stefan Laird on December 5, 2023. At the time, the club was in a difficult position near the foot of League 2.

Hale steered Elgin clear of relegation with a sixth-place finish by the end of the season.

The 38-year-old former Fraserburgh player previously managed Highland League clubs Huntly and Keith.

End of Season Developments at Elgin

The announcement of Hale’s suspension comes five days after Elgin finished sixth in Scotland’s fourth tier. The team ended the season without a win in five outings following a 1-0 home defeat by fifth-placed Stranraer.

The club also announced contract extensions for defender Miko Virtanen and midfielder Brian Cameron a day prior to Hale’s suspension. Goalkeeper Thomas McHale’s departure to Highland club Nairn County after eight years at Borough Briggs was also announced, along with the release of six other players.

The announcement regarding Hale’s suspension follows a series of announcements from the club.

The club will be looking to move forward from this situation quickly.
