Opening Week is complete, but there’s more baseball action on the way.
The schedule includes dates circled on the calendar, including a World Series rematch and the Rays’ return to Tropicana Field.
World Series Teams Meet Again Early
The Dodgers will face the Blue Jays in a three-game series.
The Dodgers narrowly bested the Blue Jays in the World Series, seizing Games 6 and 7 in Toronto to become baseball’s first repeat champs since the 1998-2000 Yankees.
This will be the second-earliest World Series rematch since 1997.
The earliest such rematch happened in 2016, when the Royals and Mets clashed on Opening Day after meeting in the previous season’s Fall Classic.
Pitching Matchup to Watch
Tuesday’s pitching matchup pits Yoshinobu Yamamoto against Kevin Gausman.
Yamamoto had a historic World Series performance, with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief in Game 7, one day after keeping LA alive with a brilliant Game 6 start.
Gausman has been sensational through his first two starts of 2026, allowing just one run while notching 21 strikeouts in 12 innings.
The four-time MVP Shohei Ohtani is just 2-for-17 (.118) off Gausman in his career.
Royals and Guardians Renew AL Central Rivalry
The Royals will face the Guardians in a three-game series.
Kansas City has only won the season series once in the last 10 campaigns. That came in 2024, which is also the only time in that span that the Royals have made the postseason.
Witt Jr. vs. Ramírez
Bobby Witt Jr. and José Ramírez will share the field.
Last season, Witt Jr. (8.0 fWAR) and Ramírez (6.3 fWAR) were two of just 10 players to accumulate more than six WAR, per FanGraphs.
Only five players recorded consecutive 6-WAR seasons from 2024 to 2025: Witt, Ramírez, Aaron Judge, Ohtani and Francisco Lindor.
Gavin Williams’ Impressive Run
Gavin Williams is coming off a dominant 10-strikeout gem against the Dodgers last week.
Since the 2025 All-Star break, only Trevor Rogers and Tarik Skubal have a lower ERA than Williams’ 2.19 mark.
There’s plenty more baseball on deck.
