The Detroit Lions are engaged in voluntary offseason workouts as they prepare for organized team activities and a mandatory minicamp.
The Lions will hold their mandatory minicamp on June 16-17 before training camp opens from the Meijer Performance Center in late July.

Moore Praised as a Top Rookie Fit
One of the Lions’ draft selections is receiving praise from ESPN. The Lions’ selection of Michigan EDGE Derrick Moore in the second round has been highlighted as one of ESPN’s best rookie team fits.
Moore, who had 10 sacks in 2025 at Michigan, was described as the best speed-to-power rusher in the 2026 class. According to ESPN, Moore demonstrated striking power and leg drive on tape, often pushing offensive tackles back into the pocket.
Moore’s attributes align well with the Lions’ needs. The Lions needed a physical rusher opposite Aidan Hutchinson.
Potential Role on the Lions’ Defence
Moore’s value as a rookie could be most evident on third downs, where he could be used as a designated rusher in sub-sets. With Hutchinson likely drawing protection slides and chips, Moore could also excel early in one-on-one situations.
The Lions traded up with the New York Jets to select Moore at pick No. 44.
Moore is listed at 6-foot-3 and 255 pounds. He had 10 sacks at Michigan last season.
