Inter Miami are preparing to face DC United at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on Saturday for their third match of a five-game MLS road trip. They will be aiming to secure back-to-back away victories. DC United and Inter Miami are currently level on points in the Eastern Conference table, with the reigning champions sitting seventh and DC United in sixth position.
DC United’s Promising Start
Rene Weiler’s DC United have made an encouraging start to the 2026 season. The Black and Red have only conceded one goal in two regular-season matches. This marks a significant improvement after conceding the most goals in the Eastern Conference last year (66).
Their 1-0 win on matchday one ended an 11-game home winless run. On Saturday, DC United have the opportunity to secure consecutive regular-season home victories for the first time since April to May of 2023. The team could also achieve their second triumph of the season far earlier than in 2025, when they reached their second win on matchday nine. DC United did not suffer a regular-season home defeat against Florida-based clubs in the previous year, drawing 1-1 against both Orlando City and Inter Miami.
Inter Miami Aim to Continue Road Form
Inter Miami are looking to build on their recent form after a difficult start to the 2026 campaign. The Herons got back on track last week thanks to the club’s star captain. They have won two of their last three regular-season away matches. This weekend, they could achieve consecutive domestic road shutouts for the first time since April of last year.
Javier Mascherano has a strong record in away matches, having never lost when his team have scored multiple goals, winning six consecutive games in such situations. Inter Miami are yet to score an opening-half goal in the regular season this year, despite winning their final three such matches before the playoffs in 2025. Dating back to the previous campaign, they are unbeaten in four straight regular-season away games against Eastern Conference opposition, winning their last two encounters. Miami have points in five straight MLS meetings with DC, remaining unbeaten in four consecutive away matches against them.
Team News and Potential Absences
DC United may be without Gabriel Segal and Aaron Herrera due to lower-leg injuries. Bibi Hakim Karamoko is also questionable due to illness. Last week saw Jared Stroud and Hosei Kijima enter the starting 11, replacing Jackson Hopkins and Gabriel Pirani.
For Inter Miami, Luis Suarez is doubtful with a lower leg injury. Sergio Reguilon is likely to be absent due to a knee injury. Lionel Messi’s brilliance propelled them to victory last week.
As both teams look to continue their positive starts to the season, the match promises to be a closely contested affair that could shape their respective positions in the Eastern Conference standings.
