Christian Horner Fuels MotoGP Speculation Amid Liberty Media Push

Christian Horner’s recent appearance at a MotoGP event has ignited speculation about his potential involvement in the motorcycle racing series. The former Red Bull boss attended as a guest of MotoGP and Liberty Media, the organisation that now controls the commercial rights to both Formula 1 and MotoGP.

Horner Explores MotoGP and Liberty Media Synergy

Horner confirmed his presence as a guest, stating: “I’m here as a guest of MotoGP and Liberty Media.” He highlighted the potential for crossover between Formula 1 and MotoGP, saying: “I believe this sport has so much to offer. Hopefully, the people at Liberty Media can leverage their experience in Formula 1. I know Stefano Domenicali is very committed – I’m here with him today. There will certainly be some synergy effects.”

When questioned about the possibility of buying into a MotoGP team, Horner did not dismiss the idea. “I’ve just come to learn a little bit more while I’ve got some time, just to explore other forms of motorsport,” he explained. “I’m liking what I see but there’s always going to be speculation.”

Alpine and Honda Rumours

Horner also addressed rumours linking him to Alpine, stating: “There are always rumours circulating. For now, I’m still taking a break and I’m in no hurry. We’ll see what happens in the end. For the moment, I’m still enjoying watching other sports.”

He was also observed in conversation with Koji Watanabe, further fueling speculation regarding a potential Honda-backed MotoGP project.

Praise for MotoGP

Horner expressed his admiration for the MotoGP championship. “They’re great races, it’s a great show,” he said. “The riders are incredible, the motorcycles are incredible. Only when you see it live do you appreciate how insane these machines are.”

Horner’s appearance comes amid wider crossover between Formula 1 and MotoGP personnel. Figures such as Gunther Steiner and Massimo Rivola are now established in the series, and Pierre Gasly is buying into a team.

For now, Horner is “still enjoying watching other sports”, but the speculation surrounding his potential involvement in MotoGP is unlikely to disappear any time soon.
