Carolina enters Game 5 with a 3-1 series lead. They achieved a dominant 4-0 victory in Montreal on Wednesday. The Hurricanes overwhelmed the Canadiens from the opening puck drop, scoring three times in the first period.
Frederik Andersen stopped all 18 shots he faced for his fifth shutout of the postseason. Carolina has won four straight games since dropping Game 1. They have leaned on a balanced attack featuring Sebastian Aho, Seth Jarvis, Andrei Svechnikov, Jordan Staal, and Logan Stankoven throughout the series.
Canadiens’ Offensive Struggles
For Montreal, the challenge is generating offense against one of the NHL’s stingiest defensive teams. Rookie goaltender Jakub Dobeš has been a bright spot. He had a 39-save performance in Game 4, but the Canadiens have struggled to sustain pressure. They were held scoreless in the last outing.
Captain Nick Suzuki and the young Montreal core now need their best performance of the postseason to extend the series. They must force a return trip to Bell Centre for Game 6.
