Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark continues to make her mark on the WNBA record books. Clark reached her 500th career assist during the Fever’s game against the Golden State Valkyries, adding to her 1,000 career points achieved earlier this season.
Clark Breaks Assist Record
Clark becomes the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,000 points and 500 assists. She achieved this feat in just 59 games, surpassing Sue Bird, who reached the milestone in 82 games.
Her 500th assist came in the second quarter, with a pass to Sophie Cunningham. Clark had previously hit 1,000 points during the Fever’s season opener.
Valkyries Secure Narrow Victory
The Valkyries initially took the lead, going up by double digits in the first half. A late run in the second quarter saw Indiana tie the game at 44-44 by halftime.
The game remained close in the second half, with Indiana briefly holding a seven-point lead. Golden State then retook the lead in the final minutes, holding off the Fever to maintain their advantage.
With 16 seconds left, Gabby Williams made one of two free throws, giving the Valkyries a two-point lead. Aliyah Boston had a chance to tie the game with 0.6 seconds remaining, but her shot missed.
Individual Performances
- Veronica Burton led the Valkyries with a game-high 25 points and a career-high five blocks.
- Clark finished with 16 points and six assists for the Fever.
