The Cleveland Browns are considering adding Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson to their quarterback room. According to Browns general manager Andrew Berry, Simpson is still on their radar.
Berry’s Plans for Simpson
Berry says he plans to spend more time with the Bama quarterback before the draft.
“I have spent time with Ty. I think that’s obvious, and we’ll continue to do so. But I think he has a bright NFL future,” he said.
Berry indicated that any addition to the quarterback room would likely be a younger player. “Our lean would be if we do add someone to the quarterback room, it would be someone who’s a younger player most likely,” Berry told Browns beat writers. He added, “But I can’t state that definitively because I don’t know what the next couple of weeks will hold.”
Berry also emphasised the importance of competition. “Anyone that we bring in at any spot on the roster, our thought is that they’re competing. They’re competing to play. They have something that we like in their skill set. And our expectation would be for them to work harder,” he concluded.
Kiper’s Sanders Claim Proved Incorrect
Everything Berry said contradicts what NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. said last week.
He incorrectly stated that the Browns weren’t in the market for a quarterback because they had Shedeur Sanders.
Kiper has been an advocate for Sanders since he arrived in Cleveland.
The Browns still may add Ty Simpson to their quarterback room.
