Brooks Koepka Offers Support After Golf Cart Incident

Brooks Koepka offered comfort to a young spectator after she was struck by a golf cart during the third round of the Valspar Championship. The incident temporarily halted play on Saturday.

Koepka’s Reaction and the Spectator’s Condition

Koepka, who was playing the par-3 15th, went to check on the girl after she was struck. He ducked under the ropes to offer assistance.

Reports indicated the girl ended up underneath the cart, which had been transporting spectators. Walking reporter Smylie Kaufman reported that she had escaped serious injury and would be okay after medical evaluation.

Koepka stated that he felt terrible for the girl, named Shay. He added that as long as she’s okay, that’s all that matters.

Koepka on Impact to His Game

Koepka said the incident did not affect his play golf-wise. He acknowledged it was unfortunate and shouldn’t have happened, but he was thankful she was okay.

Following the incident, Koepka made double bogey at the par-4 16th. He sits T11 at four under par through three rounds, seven shots off Sungjae Im’s lead.

Koepka said he felt like he needed a real low round. He noted it would have been nice to stay at 6 under.

Koepka is a long ways away from the lead. He will look to improve his position in the final round.
