Bangladesh Take Control Against Pakistan in Second Test

Bangladesh seized control of the second cricket test against Pakistan, reducing the visitors to 96-4 at lunch on Day 2.

The hosts’ disciplined bowling performance saw Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan each take two wickets.

Taskin Strikes Early

Pakistan resumed the day at 21 without loss, but Taskin Ahmed quickly put Bangladesh in command.

Taskin dismissed both openers in his first two overs, removing Abdullah Fazal (9) and Azan Awais (13).

Abdullah Fazal, who had scored twin half-centuries in the first test, edged a delivery behind after scoring 9.

Taskin then swung one viciously past Awais, who pushed the delivery to short-leg when on 13.

Mehidy Chips In

Captain Shan Masood and Babar Azam attempted to steady the innings, but Mehidy Hasan broke their 38-run partnership.

Masood hit a short ball straight to the fielder at short cover for 21.

Mehidy then dismissed Saud Shakeel (8) to leave Babar Azam with significant work to do.

Babar, who missed the first test because of a left knee injury, was not out 37 with Salman Agha on 6 at the break.

Bangladesh’s First Innings

Bangladesh was bowled out for 278 in its first innings.

Litton Das scored a sublime 126 on Day 1.

Pakistan trail by 182 runs and are looking to level the series after losing the first test.
