Weather and Circuit Conditions in Montreal
The weather forecast for the weekend in Montreal is mixed. Friday’s practice session and sprint qualifying, and Saturday’s sprint and main qualifying, are expected to be dry and sunny. Temperatures are forecast to be between 19C and 21C.
Sunday’s weather is predicted to change. There is a 70% risk of rain at lights out at 4pm local time. The temperature is also expected to drop to about 15C to 16C.
The Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is a favourite among drivers and fans. The circuit mixes long straights into heavy braking zones. Overtaking opportunities are available at the Turn 10 hairpin and the final chicane at Turns 13 and 14.
Drivers need to be cautious of the ‘Wall of Champions’ at the end of the lap. It was nicknamed after three world champions – Damon Hill, Michael Schumacher and Jacques Villeneuve – all crashed at the same place during the 1999 weekend.
Canada is hosting its first sprint event this weekend, fresh from Norris taking victory from pole position at the second sprint in Miami three weeks ago. The shorter race at the 4.361km Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve will be 23 laps.
The 2025 Canadian Grand Prix weekend in Montreal was attended by 352,000 fans.
