Anthony Edwards will not play against the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves ruled him out due to a right knee injury and an illness.
Edwards Ineligible for NBA Awards
Edwards is now ineligible for NBA postseason awards. He won’t reach the 65-game minimum because of the missed game against the Detroit Pistons.
He has played in 59 games, but only 58 count toward the league’s record of games, and Minnesota has six games left in the regular season.
Details of Edwards’ Absence
Edwards’ absence from the game against the Pistons followed his return from a previous six-game absence due to a right knee ailment. He had scored 17 points in 23 minutes in a win over Dallas in his first game back.
Following Thursday’s 113-108 loss to the Pistons, Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said Edwards’ illness is what kept him out of the game.
Edwards is averaging a career high with 29.3 points.
