The rising rivalry between teenagers Mirra Andreeva and Victoria Mboko is set to continue at the Miami Open.
Teenage Stars Clash in Miami
Andreeva and Mboko have already met twice in 2026. Andreeva won easily in the Adelaide final. Mboko then won 7-6 in the third set in the third round in Doha.
Both players have strong records this year. Mboko is 18-5, while Andreeva is 14-5.
Andreeva started the year strongly in Australia. Mboko has built momentum since, reaching the final in Doha and the quarter-finals in Indian Wells.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Andreeva is considered a top-tier talent, with defensive range and a clean backhand. However, she can be volatile.
Mboko has similar strengths, with speed and the ability to hit hard from both sides. She is known for her composure and comebacks.
Tiafoe and Mensik Prepare for Showdown
Frances Tiafoe is also competing at the Miami Open, facing Jakub Mensik. Tiafoe and Mensik have experienced similar peaks and valleys over the past year.
Tiafoe reached a season-high No. 11 last July, while Mensik rose to a career-high No. 16 a month later. Both players then saw their rankings drop.
Tiafoe is 13-6 in 2026, reaching the final at the 500 in Acapulco and returning to the Top 20. Mensik is 14-5, with a title in Auckland and a career-high No. 12 ranking this month.
Tiafoe credits his new coach, Mark Kovacs, for improving his training. Mensik is defending 1000 champion’s points from 2025 in Miami.
Tiafoe and Mensik have played once before, in Davis Cup last year, with Mensik winning 6-1, 6-4.
Miami is an important moment for both men.
Mboko and Andreeva have teamed up to play doubles in Indian Wells and Miami.
Mboko is predicted to win on the quick hard courts in Miami.
