TalkSPORT’s Alan Brazil Issues Statement After Operation

Alan Brazil has released a statement after undergoing what he described as a “life saving operation”. The talkSPORT presenter’s health scare kept him away from his usual spot on the Breakfast Show.

The 66-year-old has hosted the show for over 25 years. His absence had been noted by listeners.

Brazil shared his statement on social media, explaining his absence and expressing his gratitude.

Brazil’s Statement on His Health

In his statement, Brazil said: “Hi Guys, I hope that everyone’s well.

“Some of you will have noticed that I’ve not been around. I recently had a life-saving operation and I’m deeply grateful to the brilliant medical team who have looked after me.

“It will be some time yet before I’m fully back to myself and for now I am focused on my recovery in private. Thank you to my family and those close to me who’ve been supporting me/ putting up with me!

Fans have responded with messages of support and wishes for a speedy recovery.

One user wrote: “Speedy recovery Al , miss you on the radio it just isn’t the same. All the best until your back on big man.”

Another added: “Speedy recovery AL , take care , look forward to hearing you back on the airwaves soon.”

A third wrote: “Get well soon Al. Look after yourself.”

Brazil’s Earlier Absence Due to Illness

Back in January, Brazil left his talkSPORT presenting shift early after feeling unwell. The show went to a commercial break, and Gabby Agbonlahor stated that Brazil was unwell.

Brazil later revealed that he took a fortnight off from talkSPORT due to an ear infection that made him feel like he was going to collapse. Upon his return, Brazil said: “The big news this morning is I’m alive and kicking.

“I’ve never had so many texts and emails asking, ‘Are you all right? Are you dead? Are you dying?’ Give us a break. Honestly. It was my ears. I had a big infection in my right ear, and my left ear was blocked. I was sat here thinking I was going to fall off my chair.

“It’s the worst I have been, terrible. These lights (in the studio) don’t help. I have said to them to turn the lights down but do they listen? It’s stupid.”

Football Career Before TalkSPORT

Before his media career, Brazil started his professional football career at Ipswich Town after moving from Scotland. The forward then signed for Tottenham and Manchester United.

Injuries impacted his career. He had brief spells at Coventry and QPR.

Brazil also played in non-league for Witham Town and Chelmsford City before becoming a sports analyst. He was capped 13 times by Scotland.

Further updates on Brazil’s condition are expected as the story develops.
