Adam Hinshelwood Celebrates Promotion After York City Exit

Adam Hinshelwood, the former York City manager, celebrated a promotion of his own with Worthing after their 2-0 win over Ebbsfleet United on Saturday. Hinshelwood started the season as City boss before being replaced by Stuart Maynard. Maynard finished the job and got York back to the Football League.

Double Promotion Delight

Hinshelwood secured two promotions in one season after Worthing lifted the title. He ended the season back at his former club Worthing in the Enterprise National League South. For the former City manager, there was no bitterness as he wished the Minstermen all the best in League Two for next campaign.

Hinshelwood was relieved of his duties just four games into the season. Maynard was quickly hired as his replacement, with the Minstermen managing one win from their opening four.

In his 18 months as York manager, Hinshelwood secured final day safety for City and then took them to second in the National League, recording 96 points last campaign.

No Hard Feelings

Hinshelwood told Worthing club media: “A massive well done to York City. Their fans have suffered a lot over the years.” He added, “I am so, so chuffed. There is no bitterness from myself and I am so glad they got over the line as well. It makes it even sweeter for us.”

City’s celebrations have been well documented on social media. Hinshelwood and Worthing are also going to be partying across the week as they prepare for a season in the fifth tier.

Family Time and Celebrations

Hinshelwood will return to York for some time away from Worthing. He will also be following Brighton & Hove Albion in their final games of the season with his son, Jack, playing for the Seagulls.

He added: “I’m going to support my boy now so I will be at Newcastle away, Leeds away, Wolves at home, Man United at home. I am going to enjoy those games. Probably some overnight stays with the family. We will go up to York and spend some time up there again. Try and tag on their celebrations if we can and see some friends up there. And try and lose the two stone that I’ve put on! It has been stressful but it makes it all worthwhile, seeing us compete at the top level in non-league football.”
