The New York Yankees are beginning their 2026 season with hope for the World Series. The Yankees could turn the 2026 season into a World Series-contending year, partly due to the breakout of Jazz Chisholm Jr. from last year carrying over to 2026.
Continuing his breakout into his free agent year would be huge for Chisholm’s future payday.
Bowden’s Bold Prediction for Chisholm
Jim Bowden is predicting a massive season for Chisholm. Bowden is predicting that the star infielder will earn a $300 million payday next offseason.
“Jazz Chisholm Jr. signs a 10-year, $300 million deal to remain with the Yankees,” Bowden writes. “This comes on the heels of Chisholm’s second straight 30/30 season.”
What a 30/30 Season Would Mean
Chisholm finishing the 2026 season with another 30 home run and 30 stolen base season would be a huge boon for the 28-year-old infielder in landing a big deal next offseason.
This is Chisholm’s contract season, and if he plays well, he could be playing himself into a massive payday.
Bowden is predicting that such a season will happen, which leads to a massive $300 million extension for Chisholm over 10 seasons.
Chisholm’s Performance Last Year
Last year, Chisholm had a .242 batting average with 31 home runs and 31 stolen bases. He also recorded 4.2 bWAR for the best season of his career.
The All-Star second baseman could have another great year with the Yankees and make the case for a massive new deal in the offseason.
If he has such a good year that the Yankees sign him to a $300 million extension, that would be great news for both the Yankees and Chisholm.
This prediction from Bowden is a bold one, but hopefully for both the player and the team, this prediction comes true, as it would mean Chisholm’s 2026 would be a continuation of his 2025 breakout campaign.
