Record Wimbledon Prize Money Announced for 2026 Championships

Record prize money is on offer at this year’s Wimbledon, with the eventual winners of the men’s and women’s singles titles each receiving £3.6m. The total prize pot for the 2026 Championships has risen to £64.2m, a significant increase from last year’s £53.5m.

Prize money was a contentious subject ahead of the 2026 Championships. Wimbledon announced its biggest ever single-year uplift in an attempt to appease unhappy players.

Record Uplift Amidst Player Concerns

The All England Club revealed a 20 per cent increase in the total prize pot. Prize money for qualifying also increased, rising to £6.2m.

The world’s leading players welcomed the prize money announcement. They described it as a “genuine and significant step forward”. Despite this, protests from the players still occurred over the weekend.

Players have long argued that they should be receiving a greater percentage of the overall revenues generated by the grand slams. Following just two days of direct action, players stood down from their protests.

This decision came after a “constructive meeting” between player representatives and Wimbledon.
