Pep Guardiola has stated he has “one more year” on his Manchester City contract, despite ongoing speculation about his future at the club.
The 55-year-old is preparing to lead his team in the FA Cup final against Chelsea, aiming for a domestic double after already securing the Carabao Cup. The final at Wembley Stadium marks Guardiola’s 24th domestic cup semi-final or final.
Guardiola’s Future Still Uncertain
Rumours have been circulating that Guardiola might step down this summer after a decade in charge. There has been no official confirmation from either Guardiola or Manchester City regarding his future.
When asked if the FA Cup final could be his last visit to Wembley, Guardiola responded with a firm “no way”. He then suggested he has “one more year [on his] contract” before leaving the press conference.
BBC Sport understands that Enzo Maresca, the former Chelsea head coach, is a leading candidate to potentially replace Guardiola. However, Manchester City reportedly want Guardiola to stay as long as possible, but there’s uncertainty whether he will see out his contract.

Guardiola has said he loves working at Manchester City and has won 19 trophies during his tenure, including six Premier League titles, the Champions League, and two FA Cups. His side are currently competing for a seventh Premier League title but are behind Arsenal by two points with two games remaining.
When asked if his time at City defines greatness, Guardiola responded, “Yeah, of course, 19 titles in 10 years is not bad.”
