The Detroit Pistons are preparing to host the Cleveland Cavaliers at Little Caesars Arena for Game 5, a game that could swing the series in either team’s favour. The series is evenly poised at 2-2. However, the Pistons may have to take to the court without key players.
Robinson’s Injury Clouds Pistons’ Preparation
Duncan Robinson is listed as questionable for Wednesday night’s game due to low back soreness. This is the first time Robinson has appeared on the injury report. While not confirmed, the injury could be the reason for Robinson’s performance in Game 4, where he scored just four points on 1-of-2 shots.
Through 11 playoff games, Robinson has averaged 11.5 points on 43.6% shooting from behind the arc.
Coach J.B. Bickerstaff has emphasised Robinson’s importance to the team. “He has been huge for us. He is a guy who carries weight and gravity. He is a mover. He helps facilitate our offense in so many different ways,” said Bickerstaff. “Obviously, his shot-making ability, but also the threat that comes with his shot-making ability. It makes him dangerous and forces players to make tough decisions. He has been really important for us and continues to be.”
LeVert and Huerter Also Questionable
Caris LeVert is also listed as questionable for the second consecutive game with a right heel contusion. LeVert played in Game 4 despite the injury. He had a team-high 24 points, 17 of which came in the first half.
Kevin Huerter might return to the lineup after missing the last seven games with a left adductor strain. Huerter sustained the injury during the Pistons’ Game 3 loss in the first-round series against the Orlando Magic on April 25. He is listed as questionable, an improvement from his previous doubtful status.
Series Schedule
- Game 1: Pistons 111, Cavaliers 101
- Game 2: Pistons 107, Cavaliers 97
- Game 3: Cavaliers 116, Pistons 109
- Game 4: Cavaliers 112, Pistons 103
Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday. Games 6 and a potential Game 7 are also on the horizon.
The Pistons will hope that Huerter, LeVert and Robinson can overcome their injuries to contribute in the upcoming games.
