Sharjeel Khan Sheds 28kg During PSL Absence, Eyes Match-Winning Return

Hyderabad Kingsmen batter Sharjeel Khan has revealed a significant transformation, shedding 28 kilograms over the past two years. This fitness drive occurred during his absence from the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Fitness Focus During PSL Break

Speaking to a private media outlet, Sharjeel Khan described his time away from the league as challenging. However, he noted that it allowed him to focus on improving his fitness and overall game.

“It is not easy to perform immediately after a long gap, but I prepared myself fully to make this comeback successful,” he said.

Sharjeel acknowledged the importance of fitness for a long career in professional cricket. He said that he worked with a professional trainer and dietitian during this period.

“I focused on my fitness for two years and lost 28 kilograms. This process not only helped me reduce weight but also taught me how to adopt a better lifestyle,” he said.

To stay sharp, Sharjeel continued to participate in domestic cricket and other leagues. He maintained his fitness routine to remain ready for competition.

Hyderabad Kingsmen and Batting Role

Sharjeel Khan addressed the Hyderabad Kingsmen’s performance. He acknowledged that the side is new and will require time to find its footing.

He expressed optimism that the team would show improvement during the Karachi leg of the tournament.

“We just need one win and our momentum will change,” he said.

Sharjeel described a positive atmosphere within the team’s dressing room. He added that the foreign players have contributed to improved team harmony.

Regarding his batting role, Sharjeel said he prepared to bat in the middle order based on the team’s requirements. “As soon as the squad was finalised, I started practising for the middle overs about a month and a half earlier so I could contribute wherever needed.”

Personal Goals for PSL 11

Sharjeel Khan outlined his objectives for the ongoing PSL season. His primary focus is to contribute to the team’s success.

He also aims to deliver match-winning performances in at least three to four matches during PSL 11.

  • Sharjeel has played one match so far this season.
  • He scored 51 runs off 26 balls.
  • He has represented Pakistan in 25 ODIs and 21 T20Is.
