Alexander Zverev is set to continue his French Open campaign against Tomas Machac. Machac has demonstrated his ability, cracking the top 20. Joao Fonseca is also on the schedule against Dino Prizmic.
Machac’s Challenge to Zverev
Machac’s ranking has been affected by injuries, but his clay-court level has been solid this season. He took a set from Jannik Sinner and beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets. He defeated Zizou Bergs without dropping a set in the first round.
Zverev has had an excellent year apart from a blemish in Rome. He won 3-0 against Benjamin Bonzi in the first round of Roland Garros, but only the third set was truly flawless. Machac has the return game to test the German.
A game handicap has been suggested for this match.
Fonseca vs Prizmic: A Close Contest Expected
Fonseca enters his match as a slight favourite, but he may face a complicated battle. Fonseca is a massive talent, but currently inconsistent. He has recently lost to Hamad Medjedovic and Rafael Jodar. He secured a 3-0 victory over Luka Pavlovic in the opening round at Roland Garros.
Fonseca has never progressed past the third round of a Grand Slam. If he wins his next match, Novak Djokovic likely awaits him.
Prizmic is also a major talent. He defeated Djokovic in Rome. He also secured a dominant 3-0 win against Michael Zheng in his opening round in Paris.
It is expected that both players will claim at least one set.
