World Cup 2026: Adidas Unveils Away Kits for Partner Nations

Adidas has revealed the away jerseys for its partner nations ahead of this summer’s men’s World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

The sportswear manufacturer launched the kits at an event in Los Angeles, one of the host cities for the tournament, on Thursday evening.

The new designs take inspiration from the 1990s, with the return of the trefoil logo, last seen on international kits at the 1990 men’s World Cup in Italy.

Retro Designs Feature in New Kit Launch

The unveiling, which follows the launch of Adidas’ home jerseys back in November, showcased the shirts of 25 partner federations, including 13 nations already qualified for the World Cup.

The event took place at Lower Grand Tunnel in Downtown, L.A.

Mexico to Face South Africa in Opener

Mexico will begin the tournament against South Africa at the Estadio Azteca, Mexico City on June 11.

Mexico will likely wear their famous green jerseys for the opening match, but they will have the option of wearing the grey and white away design released on Thursday throughout the tournament.

The away shirt features a subtle geometric pattern influenced by “grecas”, often used in Mexican artwork and architecture, as Mexico hosts the World Cup for a third time. The shirt includes a red and black collar trim.

Argentina’s Distinctive Away Strip

Lionel Messi’s last World Cup with Argentina means the reigning champions’ shirt was always going to be historic. Their new away strip features a black base with swirling blue floral and plant-like designs.

Italy Hope to Qualify and Showcase New Kit

Italy are yet to qualify for the World Cup, but if they do so via the European play-offs, they will wear a light-blue and white top influenced by the suit jackets often worn by the national team at major tournaments. The kit includes gold in the collar.

They will face Northern Ireland in their play-off semi-final next Thursday as the last 16 remaining European teams contest for the final four qualification spots.

Jamaica Still in Contention

Jamaica, whose Adidas away jersey was launched last month, are hoping to reach the finals through the inter-confederation play-offs in order to wear their new Bob Marley-inspired design.

Next week they will take on New Caledonia, with the winning team to face DR Congo for one of two remaining qualifying spaces.

The tournament will begin with the all-Adidas clash of Mexico vs. South Africa on June 11.
