Wilder vs. Chisora: Predictions for Tonight’s Heavyweight Clash

Heavyweights Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder will reach a combined 100 professional fights when they meet at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday.

The Fighters’ Records

British veteran Chisora, 42, made his professional debut in 2007 and has recorded 36 wins and 13 defeats.

Former world heavyweight champion Wilder, 40, was once considered the most feared puncher in boxing. However, he has lost four of his last six bouts, leaving his record at 44-4-1.

Chisora says this will be his final fight. With Wilder no longer at his peak, could a win on the road reignite his career?

Expert Predictions

Figures from across the boxing world have given their predictions.

One expert said: “It’s a tough fight to call. I really like ‘Del Boy’, I still remember him coming and training in our gym and my dad making him very ill doing runs up and down our steps. I’m not sure how much either of these guys have left in the tank if I am honest, I think it is one of those fights that could go either way and will probably end with one punch. I’m going to side with Derek on this one.”

Another said: “Surely it’s ending in a knockout. I’d love to see Derek get the win but I also do fear a win keeps him in the mix and he stays for more fights. I do think, for safety reasons more than anything, that this should be his last fight. But I feel like I say that every time.

“Both men have got a chance. Chisora has been through the harder fights and more longevity in his career, but then again Wilder isn’t coming off the best results. If I was pushed to make a decision, I’d go with Chisora.”

One prediction stated: “I am going to edge to Chisora on Saturday. At this stage of their careers, he is a bit more compact and I think he will be able to grind Wilder down, sit on his chest, and let heavy shots go. I think it’ll be Chisora, by stoppage, in the second half of the fight.”

Another expert believes: “Chisora wins this fight by late TKO but is put down earlier in the fight. Wilder is the most dangerous punching heavyweight out there still, and he will be dangerous early on and could drop Chisora. But I think he then falls apart, Chisora dog houses him and gets to him late.”

Paths to Victory

“Wilder is going to be coming on strong early, but I expect Derek to weather the storm, stalk his man down and finish it in big style in the 12th round,” one prediction outlined.

Another expert said: “It will be a very entertaining fight for sure, and I’m looking forward to it. It is tough to call, so I’m going to say whoever lands the big one first will take it.”

“I’d probably edge towards Chisora as the favourite, but it doesn’t mean Wilder can’t pull out that equaliser.

“I think if it’s Wilder, it’s a clean KO win. If it’s Chisora, it’s an overwhelming barrage – working him down, punch

One Last Stand?

Chisora arrives to Wilder event in tank with Farage.

Win or lose, one expert said, I’d like Chisora to retire.

Wilder says this will be one of the best fights, as it is our 100th fight combined.
