Troops hoping to attend a UFC event at the White House will need to meet strict fitness requirements.
According to a Pentagon memo, service members who want tickets to the event must meet a waist-to-height ratio of less than 0.55. They must also meet “all service-specific physical fitness test requirements.”
Fitness Standards for UFC Event Attendance
The memo, which was issued to branches of the military this week, outlines the criteria. Uniformed troops from commands around the world can request tickets.
The Pentagon will not cover travel costs. The fight is described as a “high visibility” event at on the White House South Lawn.
Tickets must be distributed to genuine UFC fans, not solely by high-ranking distinguished visitors.
High Demand and Limited Tickets
Demand for the event is high, with limited ticket availability. The event is being held on the same day as Donald Trump’s 80th birthday, June 14.
Trump is reportedly handpicking most of the spectators. The event will host over 4,000 spectators.
“I’m going to make a lot of enemies because it’s impossible to get everyone tickets,” Trump said in an interview.
Image a Priority
The requirements suggest that Pentagon leaders and UFC fight organisers are prioritising the image of the audience.
This places a higher premium on image than the record or length of service of active-duty troops.
