Victor Wembanyama delivered a season-high performance, leading the San Antonio Spurs to their ninth straight victory with a 129-114 win over the Chicago Bulls. Wembanyama’s impressive stat line included 41 points and 16 rebounds.
His double-double was achieved in just eight minutes and 31 seconds, making it the third-fastest since 1997-98. He secured his 10th rebound 1:55 into the second quarter.
Wembanyama’s Record-Breaking Performance
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Wembanyama’s rapid double-double is only surpassed by Boban Marjanovic (8:13) in 2017 and Jonas Valanciunas (8:08) in 2025. He punctuated his high-scoring night with a one-handed dunk in the fourth quarter.
Wembanyama shot 17-for-27 from the field and 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. This marked his 14th game this season with at least 30 points.
The 27 shot attempts were a season high. Wembanyama said this was intentional as he felt like he needed his offense to get back to a certain level.
Castle and Wembanyama’s On-Court Chemistry
Stephon Castle contributed 21 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds to the Spurs’ victory. Wembanyama highlighted his growing chemistry with Castle, particularly on lob plays.
“We’ve had the chance to spend lots of minutes on the court together, and he understands me very well,” Wembanyama said of Castle. “That’s not just randomly, we’re just in sync. We get along together because he, as the ball handler, is actively trying to get the best shot for the team, and me, as the roller, I’m trying to make sure every time he throws it up high enough.”
Bulls’ Struggles and Ivey’s Waiving
Tre Jones scored 23 points in his return to San Antonio since being traded to Chicago. Leonard Miller added 21 points, and Collin Sexton had 20 for the Bulls, who have now lost their fourth consecutive game.
The Bulls took the court shortly after waiving Jaden Ivey for “conduct detrimental to the team.” Ivey, who is injured, did not travel with the team on its four-game road trip.
