Universitatea Craiova vs CFR Cluj: High Stakes SuperLiga Showdown

Universitatea Craiova and CFR Cluj will clash in a SuperLiga match with significant implications for both teams.

Anticipated Crowd at the ‘OZN’

A large number of fans are expected at the stadium. Universitatea Craiova have released ticket packages for both this match against CFR Cluj, and a future match against Rapid.

So far, the club has sold 5,800 of these packages. Approximately 4,500 tickets have been sold individually for the CFR Cluj match. With 5,000 season tickets also accounted for, the total attendance is expected to be around 17,000.

Around 2,000 children are expected to attend as part of a partnership with schools from Oltenia.

Refereeing Controversy

Marcel Bîrsan will referee the match. Previously, the Universitatea Craiova leadership criticised Bîrsan for “certain errors committed intentionally against” them.

The last time Bîrsan officiated a match for Universitatea Craiova, he sparked controversy after issuing a yellow card to Ștefan Baiaram. Radu Ghinguleac and Grigoroiu Mircea will assist Bîrsan, with Rareș Vidican as the VAR referee and Varinescu Vasile as the AVAR referee.

Title Race Implications

Gică Craioveanu stated that the winner of this match will be the next SuperLiga champion. Universitatea Craiova are currently second with 33 points, tied with U Cluj. CFR Cluj are fourth with 30 points.

The match takes place on Monday, 6 April.

The match is scheduled to start at 20:30.
