UConn Huskies Set to Face Georgetown in Big East Tournament

Top-ranked UConn will face Georgetown in the Big East Tournament quarterfinals. The game is scheduled for Saturday at noon in Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The game will be broadcast on peacock/NBC Sports Network and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97.9).

UConn’s Regular Season Success

UConn secured the 2025-26 Big East regular season championship, earning them the No. 1 seed in the Big East Tournament. The Huskies are pursuing their 31st conference tournament title and their 24th as Big East members. UConn has achieved 12 consecutive conference tournament championships.

The team closed the regular season with an 85-49 victory over St. John’s at Madison Square Garden last Sunday. Graduate student Azzi Fudd led the Huskies with 14 points. Sophomore Sarah Strong contributed 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and six steals.

UConn concluded the regular season undefeated for the 11th time in program history.

Individual Honours for UConn Players

UConn players have received numerous Big East honours. Sophomore Sarah Strong was named the conference’s Player and Defensive Player of the Year. Blanca QuiƱonez was recognised as both Freshman and Sixth Woman of the Year.

Strong is joined on the All-Big East First Team by graduate student Azzi Fudd and junior KK Arnold. Strong and Arnold also made the All-Defensive Team. QuiƱonez is on the All-Big East Second Team and All-Freshman Team. Junior Ashlynn Shade earned All-Big East Honorable Mention honours.

Georgetown’s Path to the Quarterfinals

No. 8-seed Georgetown beat No. 9-seed Butler, 62-58, on Friday. Khia Miller leads the Hoyas with 9.2 points per game this season. Darnell Haney is in his second season as head coach at Georgetown.

Series History

UConn holds a 59-6 all-time record against Georgetown. The Huskies have won the last 42 meetings between the teams.

The teams last played on Feb. 26 in Hartford, where UConn won 84-52. Fudd led the Huskies with 24 points. Fudd’s mother, Katie, played at Georgetown from 1998-01.

During Saturday’s game, the Big East will honour alumna Peggy Myers ’86 as part of the Big East Basketball Legends program.
