The UConn men’s basketball team are set to begin their quest for a third national title in four seasons. They face Furman in the NCAA Tournament Round of 64.
UConn were initially projected as a one-seed for much of the season. However, a poor close to its Big East regular season and conference slates saw Dan Hurley’s squad slip to the No. 2 seed. Furman earned their second March Madness trip in four seasons, after an improbable run as a No. 6 seed in the Southern Conference Tournament earned them an automatic bid.
Game Time Changes and Broadcast Details
The game between UCLA and UCF ran long, pushing back the UConn game. The Huskies and Paladins are now scheduled to tip off at 10:30 p.m. ET. Originally, the tip-off had been scheduled for roughly 10 p.m. ET.
The game will be broadcast on TBS. Streaming options include the March Madness app and Paramount+.
Injury Concerns for UConn
UConn will be without two major contributors for their NCAA Tournament opener. Silas Demary Jr. and Jaylin Stewart were both listed as out in the NCAA Player Availability report. The report was released at 8 p.m. ET.
CT Insider columnist Mike Anthony highlighted Millender. Millender spent four years at Division II Wayne State in Nebraska and one at IU-Indianapolis, before opting to spend the sixth and final year of his college experience with the Huskies. He might be in line for an expanded role off the bench with Silas Demary Jr. sidelined by injury.
Hurley Family Update
The Hurley family has slipped one spot in the NCAA record books. Purdue point guard Braden Smith overtook Bobby Hurley as the sport’s all-time assists leader. Smith’s 1,077th career assist has helped the Boilermakers build an early lead.
UConn will play the winner of the UCLA and UCF game on Sunday in the Round of 32.
