Nebraska will face Sun Belt Champion Troy in the NCAA Tournament.
Cross’s Successful Tenure at Troy
Scott Cross’s first job outside of Texas has been a success. After a playing career at Texas-Arlington and a subsequent assistant coaching position, Cross became head coach. From 2006 to 2018, Cross became the coach with the most victories in school history, guiding the program through conference transitions. He accumulated a 225-161 record, including an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2008 before leaving for TCU. After a stint at TCU, Cross arrived at Troy, where he has a 125-98 record. He is currently in the midst of five straight seasons of at least 20 wins, including consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in school history.
Key Players for Troy
This year’s Trojans team features a strong frontcourt. All-Sun Belt First Team pick Thomas Dowd leads the team. The 6-foot-8 junior averages over 14 points and 10 rebounds per game. He is joined by All-Sun Belt Third Team selection Victor Valdes.
Nebraska’s Road to the Tournament
Nebraska’s basketball team faced Purdue at the wrong time. Purdue defeated Nebraska 74-58. The loss didn’t hurt Nebraska too badly, as the Huskers landed in their dream site – a Round of 64 matchup in Oklahoma City.
Nebraska will go for their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory on Thursday.
