The No. 2 seed Boilermakers avoided an upset against 11th-seeded Texas in the Sweet 16. Trey Kaufman-Renn’s shot at the buzzer ensured their March Madness run continues.
The game was close throughout. With just 11 seconds remaining, Texas’ Dailyn Swain scored a basket and was fouled, tying the score at 77.
Purdue had the final possession. Braden Smith drove to the lane but missed the potential game-winner. Kaufman-Renn was on hand to score the putback with just 0.7 seconds left on the clock. Texas were unable to score with a full-court heave.
