The Pittsburgh Steelers have added a veteran running back to their roster.
According to reports, the Steelers are signing Travis Homer, who last played for the Chicago Bears and also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks.
“The Steelers are signing former Bears and Seahawks RB and special teamer Travis Homer, source said,” according to a report.
Homer’s NFL Career So Far
Homer entered the league in 2019 as a sixth-round pick from Miami and spent four years with the Seahawks.
During his time in Seattle, the 27-year-old rushed for 453 yards and a touchdown and was also a premier special teams player.
Homer has spent the last three seasons in Chicago, contributing on special teams but not having a major role on offense.
He has appeared in just 20 total games over the last two seasons.
Competition for a Roster Spot
Homer should compete for a roster spot with the Steelers, but could have an uphill climb, given the depth in Pittsburgh’s running back.
- Homer entered the league in 2019.
- He played for the Seahawks for four years.
- He has spent the last three seasons in Chicago.
If he can make his mark on special teams, Homer could make the Steelers’ roster for 2026, but this could be nothing more than just a signing to fill the team for training camp.
