The Minnesota Timberwolves will face the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center. The game is scheduled for March 11th, 2026, at 9:00 PM CDT.
Wolves’ Slide Down the Standings
A week ago, the Minnesota Timberwolves were in a strong position, having won five games in a row. They had climbed to the three seed in the Western Conference. However, after the last three games, Minnesota now finds itself back in sixth place.
The Timberwolves’ defensive identity has vanished. The offense has become disjointed. The killer instinct that had been slowly forming has disappeared.
Minnesota is currently in a four-car pileup with Denver, Houston, and the Lakers. All are jammed together between the three and six spots in the standings.
Tiebreaker Troubles for Minnesota
The Timberwolves have a significant problem. They don’t own a single meaningful tiebreaker against Denver, Houston, and the Lakers. Minnesota is a combined 1–7 this season against those teams. This means if the standings end in a tie, the Wolves will get shoved down the bracket.
If they want to climb back up the ladder, they’re going to have to do it the hard way.
Western Conference Nightmare Scenarios
The Western Conference has turned into a choose-your-own-nightmare scenario. Avoiding Oklahoma City still matters. They’re the team that knocked Minnesota out last year.
Take the Lakers, for example. Minnesota is 0–3 against them this season. This makes that potential matchup feel less like revenge and more like a horror sequel.
Then there’s Denver. Minnesota is 1–3 against the Nuggets this year, and Denver still employs Nikola Jokic.
Houston isn’t exactly a safe draw either.
