Tigers vs. Cardinals: What You Need to Know
The Tigers (2-4) are hosting their home opener against the St. Louis Cardinals (4-2) on Friday, April 3, at Comerica Park in Detroit. The game is available on Detroit SportsNet and Fox-2 Detroit (WJBK), with streaming on Fubo and MLB.tv. Detroit returns home for three games against the Cardinals before going on the road for a four-game series against the Minnesota Twins from April 6-9.
Tigers lefty Framber Valdez will start his second game of the season for the Tigers. He allowed just one earned run over six innings in a 5-2 win over the San Diego Padres on March 27. Valdez was Detroit’s splashiest offseason signing and has looked like an ace pitcher through spring training and his one regular-season start in 2026.
Starting for the Cardinals is 25-year-old Michael McGreevy, who last season sported a 4.42 ERA over 95⅔ innings for St. Louis. He struck out six batters and gave up no runs over six innings of work against the Tampa Bay Rays on March 28.
