Terry Crews is starring in a reimagined version of the classic comedy film ‘Friday’, in a promotional campaign for the Los Angeles Rams.
The Rams’ campaign, titled ‘Thursday’, is designed to generate excitement ahead of the NFL Draft.
Sons of ‘Friday’ Stars Recreate the Classic
O’Shea Jackson Jr., son of Ice Cube, and Destin Tucker, son of Chris Tucker, headline the project. They are recreating their famous fathers’ roles from ‘Friday’.
The reimagined take, ‘Thursday’, also features Terry Crews, YG, Kevin Dotson, Jared Verse, Byron Young and Big Boy.
The Rams released ‘Thursday’ on all their digital and social platforms ahead of the NFL Draft next week.
‘Thursday’ Celebrates Los Angeles and the NFL Draft
‘Thursday’ was developed in partnership with TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles. The aim is to celebrate the cultural impact of ‘Friday’ within Los Angeles communities where Rams fans reside.
Filming took place at the original ‘Friday’ house in the West Athens neighbourhood, located southeast of SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.
The Rams’ chief marketing officer, Kathryn Kai-ling Frederick, stated that the project celebrates Los Angeles, its culture, creativity, and global influence. She added that by reimagining ‘Friday’ through ‘Thursday’ and tying it to the draft, they are creating something that truly represents Los Angeles.
Fan Activities and the Rams Block Party
‘Thursday’ is part of a series of fan-facing draft activities. These activities include the Zillow Draft House, a pop-up near Cinépolis Inglewood in Hollywood Park, which features a branded living room, a small-scale turf football field, and a retail experience.
The Rams will also host a Rams Block Party presented by Zillow at Hollywood Park from April 23-25. The block party will feature carnival-style rides and games, “Main Street” activations, and spaces to watch the NFL Draft live.
Proceeds from the Rams Block Party will benefit the Rams Foundation.
O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Destin Tucker’s Previous Work
O’Shea Jackson Jr. made his acting debut portraying his father in Straight Outta Compton. His other credits include Swagger, Cocaine Bear, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Just Mercy, Den of Thieves, Ingrid Goes West, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
Destin Tucker is an actor, writer, and musician. He stars in the short film W.T.A.F.
