Liverpool’s Szoboszlai Apologises to Fans After Man City Defeat

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has addressed Liverpool fans following their defeat by Man City. He apologised for a possible misunderstanding after the game.

Szoboszlai Clarifies Shrug After Defeat

Szoboszlai spoke about his shrug to the Liverpool fans after the defeat by Man City. He said, “Maybe it was a misunderstanding between the fans and I.”

He added, “I didn’t mean it in a bad way. Obviously I know what the fans mean to this club and what this club means to the fans.”

Szoboszlai stated, “As a player, we do everything for them as we do for us.”
If it was a misunderstanding I apologise but they can feel also that I’m not feeling better than them. I’m feeling exactly the same as they do.”

Szoboszlai made his position clear: “To make it clear I am with them, we are with them and hopefully they are with us as well.”

Szoboszlai on Upcoming PSG Match

Szoboszlai also spoke about the upcoming match against PSG. He stated, “I completely believe we can overturn it [the 2-0 deficit] because I know what we are able to do and what players we have.”

He added, “I know the mentality we have as we have shown it many times. That is what we need tomorrow.”

Szoboszlai said, “We are going to go all in and give our best from minute one to 90, or more. I am ready to die on the pitch tomorrow.”

He further commented, “I want it so bad, we have worked for it so hard. In one game anything can happen at Anfield.”

Anfield’s Impact and Potential Comeback

Szoboszlai highlighted the impact of Anfield. “It can make a big impact tomorrow. We saw it many times last season.”

He added, “Not only 11 players or the subs. It’s the whole stadium. And we know what it feels like playing for Liverpool in front of these fans, in Anfield. We don’t need any more motivation. We know how it feels.”

Szoboszlai also reflected on the potential significance of a comeback against PSG. “Of course it would be one of the biggest comebacks in my career. Especially for Liverpool. Against PSG in the quarter-final of the Champions League, after being 2-0 down. Yeah it would be the biggest comeback of my career.”

He compared it to a previous comeback: “National team [my biggest comeback] was when we qualified for the European Championship in 2019 against Iceland, we were down after 85 minutes and changed the game to 2-1.”

Jones’ Injury Update

Liverpool’s Curtis Jones has been spotted in training ahead of Tuesday’s quarter-final second leg. However, Arne Slot isn’t expecting Jones to be fit for the Champions League game, after he came off during the Reds’ 2-0 win over Fulham.

In a post-match interview, Arne Slot told Sky Sports: “He felt a little bit his groin. It wasn’t the moment – he felt it already for a few minutes.”

Slot added: “Let’s hope for the best but I would be surprised if a player who comes off, that he’s available for Tuesday.”

With the match against PSG looming, Liverpool are preparing to give their all, with Szoboszlai stating he is ready to “die on the pitch” to secure a victory at Anfield.
