The 2025-2026 season is drawing to a close for the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks, mirroring where it began for these Texas franchises.
The Spurs, holding the #2 seed, are focused on the upcoming playoffs. The Mavericks, however, have their sights set on the NBA Draft Lottery.
Little to Play for in Final Match-Up
Aside from Victor Wembanyama’s NBA Awards eligibility and Cooper Flagg’s ROY case, neither team has much to play for. This is the franchise’s first full season without Luka Doncic, and Dallas has struggled mightily.
Regardless of the reason, these two Texas franchises are both looking forward to the end of the 2025-2026 NBA regular season, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be some fun left to be had.
Injury Concerns for Both Sides
Several players are listed on the injury report for both teams. For the Spurs, Victor Wembanyama is questionable with a rib injury, and Stephon Castle is questionable with a foot injury.
The Mavericks have a lengthy list of injured players. Caleb Martin is out with a heel injury. Daniel Gafford is out with a shoulder injury. Kyrie Irving is out with a knee injury. Dereck Lively II is out with a foot injury. Naji Marshall is day to day with a hip injury. Klay Thompson is day to day. PJ Washington is day to day with an elbow injury, and Brandon Williams is day to day.
