Spurs Face 76ers as Playoff Picture Nears Completion

The San Antonio Spurs are gearing up to host the Philadelphia 76ers as the regular season nears its end.

For the 76ers, not a whole lot has changed since their last meeting with the Spurs. With four games remaining, Philadelphia currently sits 7th in the Eastern Conference. They still have the opportunity to shift their position in the standings.

The 76ers are only a half-game behind the Toronto Raptors for the 6th seed. Securing 6th would allow them to bypass the play-in tournament and guarantee a spot in the first round of the playoffs.

Embiid’s Return and Fitness

Paul George and Joel Embiid have both returned to play after absences, featuring in a win over the Chicago Bulls on March 25th. While their presence doesn’t make Philadelphia title contenders, it could make them a tough first-round opponent. This is especially true if Embiid can stay healthy.

However, Embiid’s fitness is a significant concern, considering his injury history.

Spurs’ Playoff Seeding Chase

San Antonio are also involved in a seeding chase. They are running out of games to gain ground on the Oklahoma City Thunder. With four home games left to finish the regular season, they are 2.5 back.

The situation is becoming increasingly difficult for the Silver and Black.

Coaches’ Approach to the Final Games

Regardless of the standings, head coach Mitch Johnson is expected to give his players game time during this final stretch. His aim is to fine-tune the team as the playoffs approach.
