Sky Sports is set to remain the exclusive broadcaster of Formula 1 in the UK and Ireland until 2034. This follows a five-year extension to their existing agreement.
Sky Extends F1 Broadcasting Deal
The extended partnership ensures that Sky Sports will continue to provide live coverage of every practice, qualifying, Sprint, and Grand Prix. These will also be available to stream on NOW. Live coverage of Formula 2, Formula 3, F1 Academy and Porsche Supercup are also included in the agreement.
Sky Italia has also extended its deal to remain the home of F1 until 2032.
Growth in F1 Viewership
Since Sky Sports became the home of Formula 1 in the UK and Ireland in 2019, the sport has experienced substantial growth in those markets. Total viewing figures have increased by 90 per cent. Viewership among under-35s has risen by 120 per cent, and female viewership has more than doubled.
In the past three seasons alone (2023-2025), viewing has grown by 14 per cent, culminating in a record-breaking 2025 season with 162m viewer hours.
Reaction to the Agreement
Formula 1 president Stefano Domenicali said Sky has always been a dedicated, trusted and passionate partner. He added that their approach to live broadcasting, content creation and behind-the-scenes analysis has made a difference in continuing to grow the sport in the UK, Ireland and Italy.
Dana Strong, group chief executive Sky, said they are proud of the role they’ve played in supporting the sport’s growth through storytelling, innovation and long-term investment.
Future Coverage Plans
As part of the agreement, all races, qualifying and practice sessions will continue to be exclusively live on Sky Sports F1 and available to stream on NOW. Live home nation races and highlights of every Grand Prix will be shared on free-to-air.
Looking ahead, Sky Sports will continue its coverage of the 2026 season with the Canadian GP live from May 22-24.
