Jannik Sinner is set to compete in the doubles at Indian Wells, partnering with Reilly Opelka. The pair previously teamed up in Atlanta where they won a title.
Reunion After Atlanta Success
The partnership began with mutual compliments. Sinner praised Opelka’s strong serve and return game. Opelka reciprocated, highlighting Sinner’s exceptional return skills and mental approach. The pair’s previous success came in the summer of 2021 at Atlanta, where they won their first and only title together. Now, five years later, they are reforming their partnership at Indian Wells.
First Doubles Appearance Since 2025
This will be Sinner’s first doubles appearance since June 2025, when he partnered with Sonego in Halle. They were defeated in the first round by Khachanov and Michelsen. The Indian Wells debut presents a tough challenge. Sinner and Opelka will face the top-seeded team of Granollers and Zeballos, specialists who reached the final at Indian Wells in 2024 and have already achieved a final in Dallas and a semi-final at the Australian Open this season.
Sinner has faced Granollers and Zeballos before, with mixed results. He has two losses (Peking 2023 with De Minaur and Indian Wells with Sonego) and one victory (Montecarlo 2023 with Schwartzman) against them.
Intriguing Doubles Line-Up
The Indian Wells doubles draw includes several other notable pairings. Darderi is partnering with Cerundolo, and Cobolli with Moutet. Vavassori is teaming up with Alexander Erler instead of his usual partner Bolelli. Learner Tien and Daniil Medvedev are also playing together. They will face Rinderknech and Vacherot.

Djokovic is also in the draw, partnering with Tsitsipas. Sinner could potentially face Alexander Bublik, who is partnering with Maroszan, in the event of a successful debut. A possible quarter-final match could be against Davidovich Fokina and Fils.
After three doubles tournaments in 2025, including one mixed doubles with Olga Danilovic, one with Verdasco, and one with Nick Kyrgios in Brisbane, Djokovic is set to play alongside Tsitsipas.
