Rayo Vallecano will be aiming to secure successive wins in La Liga as they travel to face Sevilla on Sunday evening. The visitors currently sit 12th in the league table, a comfortable six points above the relegation zone. Sevilla are just behind in 13th position, level on points with Rayo Vallecano.
Sevilla’s Unbeaten Run
Sevilla’s last match saw them draw 2-2 with Real Betis in the Seville derby, Isaac Romero scoring late to level the match. Matias Almeyda’s team is currently on a four-game unbeaten run in La Liga, which has lifted them to 13th in the standings. Sevilla’s current record stands at eight wins, six draws, and 12 losses in their 26 league games this season. They have struggled at home this season, managing only 15 points from 13 matches and conceding 19 goals.
Sevilla will be aiming to complete a La Liga double over Rayo, having secured a 1-0 victory when the two sides met earlier in the season in September 2025. Rayo have only won 11 of their previous 55 matches against Sevilla in all competitions, with their last win at Estadio Ramon in October 2022.
Rayo Vallecano’s Resurgence
Inigo Perez’s side had been struggling, facing the threat of relegation not too long ago. However, they have turned things around, picking up eight points from their last four matches. These results include a victory over Atletico Madrid and Real Oviedo, alongside draws against Real Betis and Athletic Bilbao.
The capital outfit have moved into 12th spot in the table, six points clear of the relegation zone, while they are 10 points off sixth-placed Celta Vigo. Rayo have only managed to win three times on their travels in La Liga this season, suffering eight defeats in the process, while they have conceded 22 times away from home.
Team News and Potential Lineups
Sevilla will have Tanguy Nianzou and Joan Jordan available again following suspensions. However, Gabriel Suazo will be absent due to picking up a yellow card in the Seville derby. Ruben Vargas and Marcao are both sidelined with injuries, while Cesar Azpilicueta is subject to a late fitness test.
Almeyda is expected to make changes to the starting lineup, with Isaac Romero and Chidera Ejuke potentially being included in the side. As for Rayo, following their 3-0 success over Oviedo, the capital outfit may field the same team. Pathe Ciss is a slight doubt, having been forced off late against Oviedo, but the home side are hopeful that the midfielder will recover. Perez’s team will switch their attention to the Conference League after this match, preparing to head to Samsunspor for the first leg of their last-16 contest.
Sevilla have the same amount of points (30) as their opponents here.
