Sergio Ramos Linked With Real Madrid Return After Mexico Spell

Rumours have surfaced regarding a potential return of Sergio Ramos to Real Madrid following his stint with Rayados de Monterrey in Liga MX. The Spanish defender, who played in the Clausura and Apertura 2025 tournaments for the Mexican side, is currently without a club.

Social Media Activity Stirs Speculation

Ramos caught the attention of Real Madrid fans by liking a post featuring him in the club’s shirt. The post referenced his ‘last dance’ with the team.

Despite his time in Mexico, Ramos remains in good shape and possesses considerable experience. He is viewed as a potential option to bolster Real Madrid’s defence, exciting the fans.

Ramos’s Time in Liga MX

Sergio Ramos arrived in Monterrey in February 2026, featuring in the Clausura 2025 tournament. During his first tournament in Mexico, he played in eight matches but did not participate in the Liguilla, where Monterrey were eliminated by Toluca.

In the Apertura tournament, Ramos played a more significant role, participating in 15 of the 17 regular-season matches. He also played throughout the Liguilla, but Rayados again fell to Toluca.

International Tournaments and Madrid Attendance

Beyond Liga MX, Ramos competed in several international tournaments. These included the Leagues Cup, where Monterrey were eliminated in the group stage, and the Copa de Campeones de la Concacaf, where his goal against Vancouver Whitecaps was not enough to secure advancement.

He also played in the Club World Cup, scoring the equalising goal against Inter Milan. However, he could not prevent their elimination against Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16.

Ramos attended a match at the Bernabéu, where Real Madrid lost 0-1 to Getafe. This appearance indicates his continued interest in the team’s performance.

Hopes for a Return

This gesture keeps the link with Real Madrid alive. It further fuels fan expectations about a possible return to finish his career at the club where he shone for more than 15 years.
