Ghana’s Black Starlets experienced a setback, losing 1-0 to Senegal in their second Group D game. The match took place at the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

VAR Drama and a Red Card

The Starlets began the game with energy, having an early goal disallowed by VAR in the 8th minute. Senegal’s El Hadji Sow received a red card in the 42nd minute after his second yellow.

Ghana Missed Chances, Senegal Capitalised

Despite the advantage of playing against 10 men, Ghana could not convert it into goals. Isaac Barfo missed a penalty in first-half added time.

Senegal took advantage in the second half. Ibrahima Dione scored in the 57th minute.

Starlets Unable to Equalise

The Black Starlets attempted to find an equaliser late in the game. However, they could not penetrate Senegal’s defence despite having a numerical advantage.

The result places Ghana at the bottom of Group D with one point. Their final game will be against South Africa.
