The Ottawa Senators will face the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday afternoon in Ottawa. The Anaheim Ducks have already played two games on their northern road trip, defeating Winnipeg (4-1) and losing to Toronto (6-4). The game is scheduled for 1 p.m.
Green’s Assessment of the Ducks
Travis Green discussed the challenge that the Ducks pose. He said that they are a “very offensive group” with “lot of skill throughout their lineup” and a “very mobile back end.” Green also noted, “Their goalies have played well, there’s a reason they’re where they’re at in the standings.”
Senators’ Recent Form and Injuries
Ottawa is coming off a 3-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night. This game was the opener of a three-game homestand, which continues on Sunday against the San Jose Sharks.
Jake Sanderson (week-to-week) and Nick Jensen (day-to-day) are out with injuries. Dennis Gilbert will be inserted into the lineup on Saturday.
Green said Gilbert is a “veteran guy” who “understands the defensive side of the game” and has a “bigger body.” Green stated that he is “looking for him to play a hard and heavy game” and “take away time and space against a very offensive team.”
Senators’ Season So Far
The Senators enter play with a 32-23-9 record after 64 games. Ottawa has the exact same point percentage (.570) as the club had after 64 games last season.
Saturday’s contest against the Ducks will mark one of four 1 p.m. ET starts Ottawa has down the stretch of the 2025-26 regular season. The Senators will also play 1 p.m. ET games on March 28 (at Tampa), April 4 (vs Minnesota) and April 11 (at NY Islanders).
Since January 28, the Senators have posted a 2.15 GAA. This is the best mark in the NHL in that span.
Series History
The Senators have won two games in a row against the Anaheim Ducks. They defeated them 3-2 in their earlier matchup this season (Nov. 20 at Anaheim) and 5-1 in their last visit to Canadian Tire Centre (December 11, 2024).
Drake Batherson had the winning goal against the Ducks in both of those games. If Ottawa can defeat Anaheim on Saturday afternoon, it would mark their first three-game winning streak against the Ducks since Feb. 1, 2018 – Feb. 7, 2019.
