Scottie Scheffler’s Masters Performance: How Old Is He?

Scottie Scheffler bounced back at the Masters with a career-best round at Augusta National Golf Club on Saturday. The world number one golfer is looking to win a third green jacket. After his first over-par score at the Masters in three years on Friday, he was back in the mix.

Scheffler’s Career-Best Round

Scheffler’s third round saw him shoot a bogey-free, 7-under 65. This was his best score in 27 rounds in the Masters. He matched his best score to par in a major championship, equalling his performance in the second round of the Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

He felt he had done enough to give himself a chance to win on Sunday at the 90th Masters. By the end of the day, Scheffler trailed Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young by four strokes.

Key Moments in the Round

Scheffler made an eagle on the par-5 second, hitting his approach to 6 feet and sinking the putt. He then closed the first nine with three straight birdies. He made a 7-foot putt on No. 7, a 3-footer on No. 8 and a 4-footer on No. 9. His approach shot on the par-4 ninth hit the cup.

He made the turn at 5-under 31.

  • Eagle on the 2nd Hole
  • Three Straight Birdies to Close the Front Nine
  • Turned at 5-under 31

Scheffler made two birdies on the second nine, rolling in an 8-footer on the par-4 11th and a 10-footer on the par-3 16th.

Reflecting on the Round

Scheffler said he felt very sharp with the irons. He felt like he took advantage of opportunities on the front nine. He felt like he did a lot of good things on the back nine.

On the 18th, Scheffler hit his tee shot under a tree on the left side of the fairway.

Scheffler’s career-best round might have been even better if a few more of his putts had fallen.
