Salah Injury Casts Doubt on Final Liverpool Appearances

Liverpool faces uncertainty over Mohamed Salah’s availability for their remaining matches after he sustained a left hamstring injury against Crystal Palace. The Egyptian international was substituted in the 59th minute of the game at Anfield, clutching his left leg. Manager Arne Slot has said the club will have to “wait and see” if Salah has played his final game for Liverpool.

Salah’s Injury and Anfield Exit

Salah, 33, was seen applauding the Anfield crowd as he left the field after being substituted. Slot acknowledged the potential significance of the moment, saying it might have crossed Salah’s mind that it could be his last game for the club. Salah was able to walk off the pitch unaided.

“It’s too early to say but we all know Mo and how hard it is for him to leave the pitch,” Slot told Match of the Day.

“For Mo to leave the pitch, it shows you something but we have to wait and see how bad it is.”

Potential Impact on Liverpool’s Run-In

Any significant issue would likely rule Salah out of Liverpool’s upcoming match against Manchester United next Sunday. After the Manchester United match, Liverpool are scheduled to host Chelsea on 9 May and travel to Aston Villa on 17 May, before concluding their season against Brentford at Anfield on 24 May.

Slot said he believed the fact it could be the Egyptian’s final game for the club will have been on his mind as he was substituted.

“My honest answer is yes, the way he came off,” Slot told Sky Sports.

“It went through his mind because there are only a few weeks to go but we are hoping he plays for us again.

“You have tests to do and then we have to wait for the prognosis.”

Salah’s Liverpool Legacy

  • Joined Liverpool in 2017
  • Has won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, Fifa Club World Cup, Uefa Super Cup, FA Cup and two EFL Cups, as well as the Community Shield
  • Has 257 goals in 435 appearances for the Reds

Salah has been a key figure for Liverpool since joining in 2017. His tally of 257 goals in 435 appearances places him third on the club’s all-time goalscorers list, behind Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285).

Liverpool will await the results of tests to determine the extent of Salah’s injury and his availability for the remaining games this season.
