Rybakina’s Dominant Start
Reigning Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina is off to a good start at the French Open. She broke Veronika Erjavec for a second time before serving out the opening set. Rybakina wrapped up the set in 36 minutes with a forehand winner.
Wawrinka’s French Open Farewell?
Stan Wawrinka lost the opening set 6-3 to Jesper de Jong. The Dutchman broke Wawrinka in his second service game. The second set remained on serve. It could be a day of emotional farewells at Roland Garros as Wawrinka has announced that 2026 will be his final season as a professional.

Iga Swiatek completed her first match of the day on Court Philippe-Chatrier in exactly an hour. British qualifier Toby Samuel’s streak of wins came to an end against Alex de Minaur. Samuel lost out 6-4 6-4 6-2 after coming through three qualifying matches last week.
