Roy Keane will be an analyst on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football alongside Jamie Carragher.
The former Manchester United captain’s appearance coincides with a potential reunion with Michael Carrick, the interim boss at Old Trafford.
Keane has been vocal about Manchester United needing alternatives to Carrick, despite the caretaker manager’s positive start.
Keane’s Criticism of Carrick and the Social Media Response
The disagreement between Keane and Carrick dates back over a decade, following United’s defeat to Olympiakos in the Champions League.
Keane described Carrick’s post-match interview as “like the performance, flat”.
Carrick’s wife, Lisa, responded to Keane’s comments on social media, calling him a **** and accusing him of seeking a reaction.
The post was later deleted, with Lisa acknowledging that emotions had taken over.
Keane’s Delayed Response
Keane waited 12 years before responding to Lisa Carrick’s criticism.
Speaking on The Overlap, Keane referenced the calls for a Man Utd connection when appointing a manager.
He questioned whether new managers need to make big speeches upon arrival.
Keane recounted his own experience at Sunderland, where he didn’t speak to the players for two days to allow them to “chill out”.
Keane then added, “His wife can always come in [if Carrick doesn’t do well], cause she’s got a bit of a big mouth sometimes. She’s probably doing the team talk.”
