River Plate Eye Move for Thiago Almada After World Cup?

River Plate are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Thiago Almada. The Argentinian side are looking to strengthen their squad.

River Plate’s Transfer Strategy

River Plate’s recent transfer strategy has focused on recruiting players with past or present involvement in the Argentinian national team. It appears this approach will continue in the upcoming transfer window. Nicolás Distasio has suggested an unexpected possibility regarding Thiago Almada.

Distasio revealed that River Plate maintains a good relationship with Almada’s agent. He then raised the question of whether a one-year loan deal would be possible. While acknowledging it seems unlikely, Almada’s representatives are expected to provide a response within 15 days.

Almada a Potential ‘Bombazo’ Signing

River Plate have begun making moves to improve their squad. While several names have been circulating, signing a player like Thiago Almada would be a major coup, especially after his participation in the World Cup with Argentina.

Otamendi Return Also Considered

Nicolás Otamendi is also reportedly a target for River Plate. Hernán Castillo stated that Otamendi is the closest to joining the club among the rumoured targets. Otamendi’s contract is expiring, and while Benfica are trying to renew it, he is reportedly leaning towards a return.

Castillo said that all factors are aligning for Otamendi’s transfer. He added that Otamendi seems to be in the mindset of returning to River Plate. Castillo stopped short of saying the deal is done, but considers it the most probable transfer.

River Plate are awaiting a response from Almada’s representatives regarding a potential loan deal.
