River Plate and Boca Juniors have faced off in the Superclásico.
The atmosphere at the Monumental was electric, with over 80,000 fans in attendance. The fans created a spectacle, launching numerous paper streamers and flares, one of which caused a small fire in the stands.
Early Injury for River Plate
River Plate have suffered an early setback with an injury to Driussi. Salas has replaced him.
Driussi had been performing well recently. It is a tough blow for River to lose him in this match.
Match Play So Far
River Plate have started the match strongly. Acuña has been very vertical, sending a cross into the box early on.
Kendry also made a good run down the touchline. River have been getting into attacking positions.
Boca Juniors are defending intensely but struggling to gain possession. Driussi was surrounded by two opponents before losing the ball.
A hard tackle by Bareiro on Acuña resulted in a yellow card. Montiel was quickly closed down as he tried to break forward.
Merentiel found himself in the area but was dispossessed before he could shoot. Martínez Quarta was hurt, appearing to be struck while on the ground.
Galván delivered a good ball into the box, which Brey caught. River have a free kick in a dangerous position. Acuña had a shot from distance which hit Weigandt.
